Search
Engine Optimization (SEO)
Did you know that the 3 search engine Giants Google,
Yahoo and MSN came out of nowhere a few years ago
to become the most-used search engines on the planet
after Altavista's glory in the search arena?. . With
these company’s constant tinkering to stay at
the top of the game, it can be tricky to keep your
site’s position in these 3 search engines at
the same time. It has become a constant fight for
survival to be on the top. Eventhough Google delivers
most of the traffic, we should stay smart to always
stay on top in both Yahoo and MSN.
I shall try to post some of my experience with sites
that I worked on to stay on the top on Google, MSN
and Yahoo.com. Some successful stories and some burn
and crashed !! nowadays its not as easy getting ranked
highly and quickly on the Search Engines, its not
even easy to get a decent Page Rank value quicly...gotta
wait 6 months before one pops up......more

Web
Analytics
I am getting the feeling that in several years time
most businesses will move to take part in an e-business
venture and at that time, having a website will be
crucial to the business, a clean and useful website
that is. The internet rush has resulted in websites
being created too fast and without careful planning.
I figure people are learning their lessons the hardway,
so did I. Because too often, the way I see it is,
if we build a website, we must have a solid reason
for doing so. Once the website is operational, it
is crucial to understand how well it works, this is
analytics (something I love about the web - it's measurable).
Building, operating and maintaining a website, requires
money and like other investments we make, it should
provide a tangible invenstments return. One thing
ive learnt from my experiences working is that we
(or organizations) should not build websites with
the aim of increasing hits, page views, or unique
sessions. Rather, the websites should focus on serving
customers, and most importantly getting some sort
of return from it (like money !!!). In my website
I shall also post some things I learnt about web analytics
and what i found to be the metrics to measure website
performance. This is related to my last consulting
work with the webanalytics applications such as Omniture,
Webtrends and websidestory. More on this inside my
pages!!.... more

Affiliate
Marketing
Being an affiliate advertiser to publishers
who are listed in the Kolimbo (kowabunga.com)affiliate
network or Comission Junction (CJ.com)
of affiliates is a very profitable thing. If you have
your own product to sell you too could also profit
out of having an afiliate application,i.e.free branding,
and it is targetted marketing - cause it lets you
reach online customers in the places they are most
likely to be spending time, and they are cost effective
compared to other marketing techniques. Please see
below a table of techniques compared, based on Forrester
Research (Forrester.com). The effectiveness
ratings represents average scores based on a scale
of 1(poor) to 5(great). Forrester Research Indicates
that the least effective form of marketing is the
banner advertisement - the most popular one used today.

Engine Marketing
Have
you ever wondered what kind of income Google and Yahoo
is receiving just from CPA alone?. This is what I
heard on the CNN channels on TV relating to Pay per
click online marketing. This is interesting -- From
when it started in 1990 to 2005 the paid search industry
jumped from a low million to $4 billion big ones in
revenue, and they say it would reach up to $23 million
by 2010. You may ask, why the huge growth ?. Well,
if you do the math, doing text based advertisements,
(like e.g.adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing) againts
the queries of those hundreds of million (up to more
than a billion searches) would result in an extremenly
succesful marketing leads generation and brand awareness..
wouldn't it ?
Actually, what they mentioned was something like this;
Google's and Yahoo's, price per click averages 50
cents in early 2005. And just considering Google and
Yahoo alone, there are more than 2 billion searches
each month. 14% of that, which is around 280 million
generates a pay per click income. So, multiply that
by 50 cents and you get ..hmm a really big figure
....$140 million in revenue ..each month to split
just between Google and Yahoo. And thats just on their
own domain names, i start to wonder , what about their
other sites, altavista, overture (Yahoo own) sites
?
All
those clicks could really add up to a billion dollar
in revenue ?.. more related topic on my blog
